U11 BOYS FOOTBALL LEAGUE CUP (6-ASIDE)

2016/2017 Season


Wednesday 5th October saw the final of the U11 Boys Football League 6-Aside Kids Cup with 8 Schools competing in two groups, with the winners of each group contesting the final.

St. Georges Telford pipped local rivals Grange Park to win group 1 while Mount Pleasant edged out St. Giles to reach the final.

In an exciting end to end final Mount Pleasant scored the only goal of the game.  The winners and runners-up were presented with their medals by Jamie Edwards, Head of Community at Shrewsbury Town FC and Tom Peevor, Development Officer for STFC Football in the Community.

Mount Pleasant will now travel to Bradford FC to represent STFC in the Community in the Regional finals, we wish them the very best of luck.

Special mention this week goes to two boys from Newtown Primary School, Wem, ace defender Noah Dunne and attacking midfielder and set piece specialist Harry Udy.

PLAYING GROUPS


GENERAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS:  

· All Schools are kindly asked to keep a check on the website at www.sscfa.co.uk as all report times, playing programmes and any cancellations will be announced here in the first instance.  This information will also be emailed directly to those schools that have entered the various weekly competitions. 

· The programme consists of the preliminary stages of both County and National (ESFA) competitions at 7-Aside.  In the ESFA competitions the eventual cup winners go forward to represent Shropshire at Regional level.  The County competitions produce the finalists for the end of season Primary School Finals. 

· All Schools are responsible for providing First Aid Cover 

· Players representing your School must wear shin pads and rubber based footwear only. 

· All Schools are asked to report to a SSCFA Official upon arrival at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. 

· Duration of matches will be subject to time available. 

· Schools are required to provide two suitable match balls(size 4) and must be clearly marked with the school name.  A full set of bibs. 

· Parental Photography permission of all children in attendance.  Kidz in Sport will be overseeing the photography this season at the Federation Centre in association with SSCFA. 

· Visitors other than Teachers, Parents and Supporters must contact the Schools Office for permission to attend.

On Wednesday 28th September the final 5 teams competed in round 1 for the last 2 places in next weeks final of the U11 Boys STFC Football League Kids Cup.

After a great session of football Newtown topped the table with a maximum 12 points and a fine Wilfred Owen team joined them as finalists with a creditable 7 points.

Special mentions go to Wilfred Owen's Imogen and Owen who defended superbly and Jordan who buzzed around midfield and made several goalscoring efforts.  Also to Newtown's Tom Dyson who kept a cool head whilst under pressure, Charlie Connacher who led the team with confidence and Sebastian Bruce who coolly slotted away a crucial late penalty in the game against fellow qualifiers Wilfred Owen.

TOP TWO TEAMS QUALIFY TO THE FINAL STAGE OF THE COMPETITION SCHEDULED TO BE PLAYED ON WEDNESDAY 5TH OCTOBER

 


Twenty four schools competed in 6 groups with the 6 winners going through to the final stage of the competition on Wednesday 21st September.

Grange Park School topped group 1 with a maximum 9 points, St. Georges Telford pipped Belvidere School on goals scored to win through on goals and Mount Pleasant gained maximum points to top group 3.

St. Giles gained maximum points in group 4 with Harlescott and Oxon in joint second, Greenfields stormed back from a slow start to head group 5 and Oakmeadow came through a penalty shoot-out with Redhill to gain the top spot in group 6.

Special mention for their players by the coaches were as follows;-

Greenfields Miles Duly defended calmly and effectively, Ross Ford pulled the strings in his role of midfield general and Kyle Davies proved an ace sharpshooter.

For Radbrook captain, Aidan Butler scored a great goal and led the team effectively, midfielder Josh Taylor displayed great awareness of the game and Liam 'head anything' Francis defended like John Terry.

Condover defender Dan Jones proved to be the teams most improved player.

St. Giles's Joe Morris notched in 3 goals and displayed a real attacking flair.  Captain Jonathan Bland was outstanding in all three matches and Lucy Pugh displayed a wide range of defensive skills.

For Harlescott John Moore totally dominated midfield in all three games.

Longden's keeper George Dymock enjoyed a magnificent debut.

Market Drayton's defender Ethan Proctor tackled like a tiger with forward Tom Smith held the ball up effectively and made intelligent forward runs.

St. Georges Telford's left midfielder Briar Bateman performed well on the wing scoring a terrific goal, while Jack Sylvester worked tirelessly in midfield and Amari Bateman proved unbeatable in defence.

For Mount Pleasant Charlie Green bossed midfield and scored two valuable goals.

And for Prees School young Finlay Hares scored a brilliant goal while Daniel Woollam dictated play in all three games and fellow midfielder capped a superb all round game with two fine goals
