Telford Priory 3 v 7 Priory

Priory Excel in High Scoring Game

The final of the U16 Boys President’s trophy was played at Shrewsbury Sports Village in very difficult windy and bitterly cold conditions. This however, didn’t influence the game which turned into a 10 goal thriller with 2 hat-tricks being scored. The Priory School from Shrewsbury dominated the first half and went in at the interval 2- 0 up with goals from Owen Bloor and with Telford Priory having little possession. The second was an all-together different affair with plenty of goal scoring chances being created. The Priory extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal from Joe Morris but soon after, Telford Priory started to re-dress the deficit with 2 very well taken goals by Ryan Giles to make it 3-2. However further goals by Owen Bloor, which sealed his Hat-trick, and Harry Harding and James Cave made it 6 -2 and put the game beyond the reach of Telford Priory. The last 5 minutes saw a further goal from Ryan Giles to achieve his hat-trick and a goal from Priory’s captain Jamie Whelan to seal the match. Harry Harding of The Priory School received “The Man of the Match” award from Neville Boulds of Alan Ward Furnishings.
