 FINAL    Grove SF1 v Meole Brace SF2
  5-4 (pen.)

Thrilling Finale to closely contested Final.

The Grove 1 Meole Brace 1 (The Grove won by 5 goals to 4 after extra time and penalties)

This final started slowly with both teams finding it difficult to create scoring opportunities and hold on to possession and at half-time neither team looked as though they were likely to school. The second half was however much more entertaining with both teams creating more scoring chances. The pace had quickened and both keepers had much more to do, however with only minutes left on the clock the deadlock  was broken when Cameron Dourlish put The Grove ahead to make it 1-0 and we all thought that would be enough. However, Meole had other plans and literally with only seconds left Louis Arnold equalised to take the tie into extra time. In the penalty shoot out that followed The Grove  scored 5 pens and Meole 4 goals meaning that The Grove were the 2017 Alan Ward u16 Boys Trophy winners.

The Alan Ward Man of the Match award was presented by Neville Bouls to The Grove's Cameron Muir.
