Monday 25th April 2016 - Shrewsbury Sports Village

Belvidere 0 v 1 Madeley Academy

Late winner seals trophy for Madeley

The final of the U14 Boys President’s trophy was played at Shrewsbury Sports Village in very difficult windy and bitterly cold conditions. Both sides found it difficult and created few chances. At half time the score remained at 0-0 and although both schools tried to play attractive football in the conditions they found it difficult. However, with ten minutes left, the deadlock was broken when a George Glover fee kick for Madeley which was some distance from the Belvidere goal saw the ball rocket into the net. Belvidere battled well to try and re-dress the deficit. but Madeley defended stoutly to hang on to their slender 1-0 lead. George Glover received the President’s Trophy from Neville Boulds from Alan Ward Furnishing and George was also received the “Man of the Match” Award
