England v N. Ireland, Fri. 4th March 2011

England's first game of the 2011 U18 Centenary Shield campaign will see them play host to N. Ireland at AFC Telford Utd. on Friday 4th March 2011, kick off 7.00pm.

It will be Andy William's first game in charge since taking over the reins as England U18 Schools Team Manager in August, so he will be hoping for a positive start to the season.  Andy reflected after the final trial at Lilleshall in early January:

'I am absolutely delighted with the announcement of those players who will represent the England Schoolboys during the coming season.  The coaching team and international selectors have presided over a lengthy trial process across the length and breadth of England, scrutinising well in excess of a hundred players over the last two and a half months, it is very exciting to be at this stage.  The final 18 players are superb young men and a highly talented group of individuals - we have the task of helping them to become a talented team'

Last season England finished second to the Republic of Ireland in the 2010 league table after losing 1-0 to the boys from the emerald isle at Burton Albion FC.  England will be looking to re-gain the Shield at the first attempt and the young lions are already keen to get the tournament underway.
